People-Powered Fundraising Calculator

Calendar Fundraiser Calculator

How much can a calendar fundraiser raise? A fully claimed 31-day pick-a-date calendar is worth $496 per participant (Day 1 = $1 … Day 31 = $31). Recruit 10 fundraisers, each sharing their own calendar, and the face-value ceiling is $4,960. At a realistic 75% fill rate, the modeled estimate is $3,720—before any donors give more than the day amount.

People power drives the mission. MonthFund turns it into funding, one day at a time.

"No one carries the whole month alone. Each fundraiser shares their own calendar; donors claim days; calendars combine into one campaign total."

Model your campaign

How many people, how full?

Each fundraiser you recruit adds another $496 ceiling (31-day month). Fill rate is the share of days your community claims. Quick example: 10 fundraisers × $496 face × 75% fill ≈ $3,720 modeled estimate.

Planning model assumptions

  1. Face value follows the pick-a-date rule: Day N = $N. The sum of days 1 through n is the triangular number n(n+1)/2. A 31-day calendar = $496.
  2. Fill rate is the share of day slots claimed at (or above) face. 100% means every day on every calendar is claimed; 60% means three-fifths of slots are claimed on average.
  3. Estimate formula: estimate = faceValue × fundraisers × fillRate
  4. Over-gives (donors giving more than Day N) are not included. Real campaigns can exceed face value when donors add support beyond the day amount.
  5. This is a planning model, not a promise. Totals depend on roster, outreach, and donor generosity. MonthFund never frames results as guaranteed.
The people-powered format

What is a calendar fundraiser?

A calendar fundraiser (also called a pick-a-date fundraiser) is a people-powered campaign where an organizer recruits fundraisers, each fundraiser shares their own personal month calendar, and donors claim open days by giving the matching dollar amount (Day 15 = $15). Personal calendars combine into one campaign total the organizer tracks in public. A fully claimed 31-day calendar is worth $496 per participant.

Three roles, one shared goal

MonthFund is the structure; the heroes are organizers, fundraisers, and donors working together.

RoleWhat they do
OrganizerCreates the campaign, sets the month, recruits fundraisers, and tracks the combined total as calendars fill.
FundraiserShares their own personal calendar with friends, family, classmates, or teammates. Each fundraiser carries a piece of the goal.
DonorClaims an open day on a fundraiser's calendar and gives Day N = $N (or more). Can cover the infrastructure fee so the cause keeps the full gift.

MonthFund is calendar software for people-powered fundraising—built for organizations that recruit many participants and can repeat month after month. Learn the format on pick-a-date fundraiser and the product flow on how it works.

Verified math

Face value by month length

The face value of a fully claimed pick-a-date calendar uses the triangular number formula: n(n+1)/2 where n = days in the month.

These numbers are exact math, not estimates.

Month length (days)Formula n(n+1)/2Full-calendar face value
2828 × 29 ÷ 2$406
2929 × 30 ÷ 2$435
3030 × 31 ÷ 2$465
3131 × 32 ÷ 2$496

Key numbers: A complete 31-day calendar at face value is always $496. A 30-day month is $465. Each fundraiser you add multiplies that ceiling.

What can your roster raise? (31-day month)

Each row shows what happens when you recruit more fundraisers—each sharing their own calendar. Columns show different fill rates.

Formula: $496 × fundraisers × fill rate. Over-gives not included.

Roster and fill rate: the two levers

A calendar fundraiser scales through people, not a single campaign page. The math depends on:

  1. Roster size — each fundraiser you recruit adds another personal calendar, another $496 ceiling, and another network of potential donors.
  2. Fill rate — how many day slots your community actually claims. More engaged fundraisers mean fuller calendars.

A smaller, well-supported roster that fills most days often outperforms a large roster of empty calendars. Recruit people who will share, then give them a clear ask: "Claim a day that fits your budget."

People power drives the mission. MonthFund turns it into funding—personal calendars combine into one campaign, and no one carries the whole month alone.

MonthFund helps organizers run this structure online—personal pages, live progress tracking, and a combined campaign total—so the community can see the month fill together. See pricing for Community (free), Professional, and Network plans.

Multi-calendar model

One calendar vs. many calendars combined

Paper calendars work for a solo ask. MonthFund is for organizations that recruit many fundraisers—each sharing their own day grid, whose totals combine into one campaign that can repeat month after month.

FAQ

Common questions

A fully claimed 31-day pick-a-date calendar raises $496 per participant at face value. That is the sum of days 1 through 31: 1 + 2 + … + 31 = 31 × 32 ÷ 2 = 496. A 30-day month is $465, a 29-day month is $435, and a 28-day month is $406. This is the maximum face value if every day is claimed at exactly Day N = $N. Actual totals depend on fill rate and donor generosity.

The MonthFund calculator uses the formula: estimate = face value × number of fundraisers × fill rate. Face value is the triangular number n(n+1)/2 for the month length (e.g., $496 for 31 days). Fill rate is the share of day slots claimed. Example: 10 fundraisers sharing 31-day calendars at 75% fill → 496 × 10 × 0.75 = $3,720 modeled estimate. Donors who give more than the day amount add upside on top of that.

Fill rate depends on how actively fundraisers share their calendars and how well the ask fits their networks. Many organizers plan for 60–75% as a working band and treat 100% as the face-value ceiling. A smaller roster that fills most days often outperforms a large roster with empty calendars. Use the calculator to stress-test optimistic and conservative fill rates.

Each fundraiser shares their own personal calendar, so campaign potential scales with roster size. At full 31-day face: 5 fundraisers = $2,480; 10 = $4,960; 25 = $12,400; 50 = $24,800; 100 = $49,600. Partial fill multiplies the same way. MonthFund combines all personal calendars into one live campaign total the organizer tracks.

Partial calendars are normal and still valuable. The estimate formula accounts for them via fill rate. Day-by-day: claimed days contribute their face amounts (or more if donors over-give); unclaimed days contribute $0 until someone claims them. A fundraiser who fills 20 of 31 days at face still raises $210.

Yes. Day N sets a floor ask of $N, but donors can give more. The calculator estimate uses face value × fill rate and does not include over-gives, so real campaigns often exceed the modeled face total when donors tip up. This upside is intentionally not baked into the planning model.

Learn the format

Paper calendars are usually one sheet with manual tracking. MonthFund is calendar software for multi-fundraiser campaigns: organizers invite participants, each fundraiser shares a personal online calendar, donors claim days digitally, and totals roll into one live campaign. Organizations can clone and repeat months. No Venmo chasing, no double-booked days, and remote supporters can claim from anywhere.

See how it works

Organization plans: Community is free with a 3% infrastructure fee donors can cover at checkout; Professional is $49/mo with 2%; Network is $199/mo with 0%. Personal accounts have no monthly fee and a 5% platform fee. Stripe card processing is separate (typically about 2.9% + $0.30, or 2.2% + $0.30 for many nonprofits). Donors see the infrastructure fee and can cover it so the organization keeps the full intended gift.
